On a festive evening, our elementary students delivered an enchanting concert inspired by Yuval Zommer’s book "The Lights That Dance in the Night". Families and friends gathered for this unforgettable event, filled with music, storytelling, and dance, all centered around the theme of winter’s magical lights.
The performances commenced with “Magic & Wizards in Winter” (PreK/K), which captured the whimsical spirit of the lights. The young performers vividly brought to life the enchanting qualities of the northern lights through music and movement. Grade 1 continued with a “Light Interlude”, captivating the audience with its intricately crafted presentation and imaginative design. “Sol Fallera,” a Norwegian folk song followed, with students from Grade 4 portraying the transformation of the lights into dazzling wonders that lit up the skies.

Returning to the younger students, Grade 1 delighted the audience with “We Are the Lights”, describing the joy their colors brought to Arctic animals like polar bears and Arctic hares, and the beauty of their dances above snow-covered landscapes.

Grade 5 students carried the evening forward with their performance in “Ding Dong”, showcasing their musical talents through a harmonious and expressive instrumental rendition. Then, “Northern Lights” brought a sense of wonder as Grade 2 students depicted how the lights inspired storytellers to weave magical tales.

“Aurora Chasers” by Grade 3 and “Kuovsakkasah” ("Northern Lights" in Sami, Lapland) by Grades 4 & 5 showcased how the luminous displays illuminated the darkness, offering hope and marvel during the winter months.

The event culminated with a spectacular “Light Show” performed by all elementary students. This grand finale seamlessly blended music, lights, and movement into a harmonious and visually stunning celebration of the season's magic.
The performers express heartfelt gratitude to their teachers and helpers, including Ms. Lemay, Ms. Tafoya, and Mr. Martin, for their contributions to the concert's success.
