DAIS is a thriving international learning community, which is open to children aged from 4 to 17. To join us – and to meet national requirements – students need to hold a valid foreign passport and live in Dalian, China, or a neighboring area. The deadline for school admissions is set each year by the Education Bureau.
Your first port of call is our Admissions Team, who will guide you through the entry requirements for Dalian American International School.
After filling in our inquiry form and speaking to our team, you’ll need to complete your child’s online application.
As part of our school’s entry requirements, you’ll also need to send us some supporting documents. Our Admissions Team will provide you with a comprehensive list.
After we’ve reviewed your application, our Admissions Team will invite you to a family meeting and admissions interview. Your child will be asked to sit an age-appropriate academic assessment.
We also ask all non-native English speakers in Grades 2-12 to take an English Language Proficiency test. The test has three sections: reading, writing, and oral language. Testing takes approximately one hour and 30 minutes for elementary students, and up to two hours for secondary students.
In some cases, additional admissions testing may be needed to make placement decisions. This ensures we can support individual learning needs.
