CHILD PROTECTION

A child’s welfare is paramount, and each student at Dalian American International School has the right to be protected from harm and exploitation. We adopted the Nord Anglia Education Guidance and Procedure for Safeguarding, Protecting and promoting the welfare of our students, and every person who works at DAIS is committed to follow this policy.

ACTIVITES FOR EVERY STUDENT

Our first-class facilities provide opportunities for achievement, excellence, health, and wellbeing.
Soccer
Physically and mentally challenging, soccer teaches valuable lessons in sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork.
Our soccer teams practice their skills by competing against other teams of similar age and ability.
Basketball
A great opportunity to try something different and get involved in fast-paced, physical activity.
Basketball ensures year-round team sports, taking place in one of the two indoor gymnasiums located on campus. The professional equipment allows our students to play national level games.
Table Tennis
This course aims to cultivate kids’ interest in playing a fast-paced, heart-racing indoor sport.
We stimulate students' potential through fitness and physical coordination training. Through a "positive discipline" teaching method, students can develop self-discipline, responsibility, cooperation, and the ability to solve problems by themselves.
Coding
In this course students will learn coding using Scratch – the programming language for students developed at MIT.

Students can use Scratch to code fun projects and build their own objects. This graphical programming language improves your child’s logical thinking skills, independent mindset, and even teaches them some basics of AI.
Math and Rubik Cube Club
Students will learn how to apply their math skills.

The practical application of math to solve challenging puzzles, including the famous Rubik’s Cube.

Parent-School Partnership

Our PSP Board is composed of parent representatives from across all grade levels at DAIS. Each parent of a DAIS student is a vital part of our community, and we invite you to join the work we do to serve our school.

The PSP’s primary goal is to support and enhance the lives of DAIS students and staff through activities and events held throughout the year, including the International Day to showcase the countries we come from and to celebrate the diversity of our student body and staff, annual Back to School party, and Teacher Appreciation Week.

Your opinion and ideas matter to us. Please feel free to contact our Board members:

OUR LIBRARIES

DAIS has three libraries on campus – the Secondary Library, the Elementary Library, and the Bilingual Library. Each library is a warm and welcoming space with robust collections of both print and non-print materials for students, faculty, staff, and families. We offer a range of digital resources to help students in school and at home. Our Libguides help students in the effective use of online databases, digital collections, digital magazines, and other electronic subscriptions.

Technology

Since its inception, DAIS has been committed to supporting and enhancing education through the use of modern technology. We envision students, faculty and staff using technology appropriately to enhance learning and advance understanding. We use innovative technologies to help students to develop 21st century communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking skills that are essential in preparing them to become future-ready global citizens.

Elementary School

In elementary school we aim to challenge students and teachers to pursue relevant and purposeful ways to integrate technology into meaningful learning experiences. Technology education is integrated into teaching and learning in age-appropriate ways across every level and subject. Pre-K through Grade 3 students are provided tablets/laptops for educational use during the school day through their homeroom teacher. Grade 4 and 5 students are required to bring their own laptops to use as one of their primary devices for learning purposes in school and at home.

Technology in Secondary School
Secondary School

In grades 6-12, students participate in what is called a Bring Your Own Technology (BYOT) classroom. A BYOT classroom incorporates the use of such items as laptops, iPads, tablets, Smart phones, or other devices with browsing capacity for educational purposes only. Though students are encouraged to make use of the variety of technologies that they bring to school, it is expected that each secondary student brings to school each day their own personal laptop that meets the school expectations.

Emphasis on Quality
At Dalian American International School, we embed technology into language, math, art, and science. Technology is integrated across grade levels and subjects in developmentally-appropriate ways. Students have access to computer labs to help with instruction and support. Instruction is aligned to the National Education Technology Standards, and for the most part consists of project-based activities that are an extension of core subject matter units and/or lessons. DAIS follows ISTE Standards, an internationally recognized framework designed to prepare students for success in a digitally connected world.
