Parent Support Group

The school values the relationship with parents and encourages their involvement in supporting the children at our school. The purpose of our Parent Support Group (PSG) is to provide support for the education and healthy development of our children and also to provide our parents with a range of activities to suit their interests and needs.

PSG is a volunteer organization that plans and operates activities and events that help to create a sense of our strong but diverse community. PSG also assists student studies and their parents in consultation and coordination with the Head of School, Principals and School Leadership Team in order to enrich the spirit of the whole DAIS community.

OUR LIBRARIES

DAIS has three libraries on campus – the Secondary Library, the Elementary Library, and the Bilingual Library. Each library is a warm and welcoming space with robust collections of both print and non-print materials for students, faculty, staff, and families. We offer a range of digital resources to help students in school and at home. Our Libguides help students in the effective use of online databases, digital collections, digital magazines, and other electronic subscriptions.

Technology

Since its inception, DAIS has been committed to supporting and enhancing education through the use of modern technology. We envision students, faculty and staff using technology appropriately to enhance learning and advance understanding. We use innovative technologies to help students to develop 21st century communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking skills that are essential in preparing them to become future-ready global citizens.

Elementary School

In elementary school we aim to challenge students and teachers to pursue relevant and purposeful ways to integrate technology into meaningful learning experiences. Technology education is integrated into teaching and learning in age-appropriate ways across every level and subject. Pre-K through Grade 3 students are provided tablets/laptops for educational use during the school day through their homeroom teacher. Grade 4 and 5 students are required to bring their own laptops to use as one of their primary devices for learning purposes in school and at home.

Technology in Secondary School
Secondary School

In grades 6-12, students participate in what is called a Bring Your Own Technology (BYOT) classroom. A BYOT classroom incorporates the use of such items as laptops, iPads, tablets, Smart phones, or other devices with browsing capacity for educational purposes only. Though students are encouraged to make use of the variety of technologies that they bring to school, it is expected that each secondary student brings to school each day their own personal laptop that meets the school expectations.

Emphasis on Quality
At Dalian American International School, we embed technology into language, math, art, and science. Technology is integrated across grade levels and subjects in developmentally-appropriate ways. Students have access to computer labs to help with instruction and support. Instruction is aligned to the National Education Technology Standards, and for the most part consists of project-based activities that are an extension of core subject matter units and/or lessons. DAIS follows ISTE Standards, an internationally recognized framework designed to prepare students for success in a digitally connected world.
