Winter Reflections: Melodies of the Season

All That Jazz performed by the Musical Theater

The choral concert held on December 3 brought warmth and festive cheer to the DAIS community.

The evening began with a delightful performance by the Middle School Beginning Choir, offering a mix of joyful and reflective holiday tunes. Their rendition of "Jari Kan Awe" by Scratch Eden set a heartwarming tone for the evening, blending creativity and culture. The choir also brought festive cheer with their lively performance of "Thirty Second Fa La La," a unique and catchy piece that truly lived up to its name—don’t blink, or you’d miss the whole song! Adding to the holiday spirit, their renditions of "Need a Little Christmas" and "The Christmas Waltz" filled the air with warmth, creating a truly magical atmosphere.

The High School Intermediate Choir followed with traditional and contemporary pieces, including the beloved "Angels We Have Heard on High," "One Foot/Lead with Love," "Deck the Halls," and "Christmas in the Sand." Their performance showcased their vocal skills and commitment, capturing the spirit of the season with a sense of reverence and joy.

The Advanced Choir then took the stage, delivering powerful and moving renditions, including Billie Eilish's "What Was I Made For" (a capella!) and "Kissin' in the Cold" by JP Saxe & Julia Michaels. Their performance was a beautiful example of the ensemble's depth and emotional connection to the music, resonating with themes of identity and belonging. It is bittersweet to note that the majority of the Advanced Choir are graduating this year. We will deeply miss their beautiful voices!

The Musical Theater class brought incredible Broadway-level energy and flair to the stage with their dazzling performance of "All That Jazz" from Chicago. Their dynamic choreography, sharp movements, and confident stage presence captivated the audience from start to finish. The performers showcased their vocal strength and theatrical expressions, perfectly embodying the bold and sassy spirit of the iconic piece.
