End-of-Year Highlights: Academic, Athletic, and Leadership Awards

As the 2024-2025 school year drew to a close, DAIS/Huamei students showcased their talents across academics, athletics, and leadership. From math tournaments and science competitions to spirited sports celebrations, the final weeks of school were filled with pride, achievement, and community spirit.

Elementary: Young Scholars Shine Bright

More than 30 students from our school received awards in the 2025 Math Kangaroo, including eight outstanding students from DAIS Elementary. Congratulations to Xixi (G1), Qka (G2), Andy, Archie, and Jerry (G3), Siyoung (G4), and Anna and Suhan (G5) for their impressive performances!

In science, Andy, Archie, and Jerry (all G3) had an amazing end of academic year. They received medals in the 2025 National Science League, a prestigious competition organized by the Continental Mathematics League that challenges students with grade-level science exams. Additionally, Jerry achieved the Science Pioneer Award at the Science Bazaar during the 2025 ASEEDER All-Star Carnival, recognizing his creativity and curiosity in scientific exploration. Andy and Archie also qualified for the onsite National Round of the International Science Bee – an incredible accomplishment for such young learners.

Secondary: Academic Excellence and Global Recognition

Secondary students continued to make their mark in prestigious competitions. On May 10–11, Mr. Benson led a delegation of five students to Beijing for the World Scholars Cup Regional Round. Competing in debate, knowledge bowl, and scholars bowl events, our teams ranked highly and qualified for the Global Round. Congratulations to Marquiss, Ruby, Zibo, Alex, and Brian, and thank you to Mr. Benson and Ms. Arboleda for their dedication.

At the Berkeley Mini Math Tournament (BmMT) in Beijing on May 24-25, our students earned multiple honors: 1 Individual Silver, 3 Honorable Mentions, 10 Puzzle Round Silvers, 5 Team Round Golds, 5 Relay Round Silvers, and 5 Overall Bronzes. Their problem-solving skills and teamwork were truly commendable.

Berkeley Mini Math Tournament

In biology, Dennis (G10), Anna (G11), Hanson (G11), and Louie (G11) received awards in the BioOlympiad Initiative USA-China and the British Biology Olympiad 2025, demonstrating excellence in advanced biological concepts and critical thinking.

On May 26, middle and high school students were honored with academic and leadership awards. Special congratulations to Max S. (Huamei Leadership Award), Angel W., Monica M., Anna Z., and Michael M. (ACAMIS Jim Koerschen Grant Award), and Julius C. (EARCOS Global Citizen Award).

On May 27, thirteen new members were inducted into the Golden Pebble Beach Chapter of the National Honor Society. Dr. Swann’s inspiring remarks and a celebration with music and cake made the ceremony truly memorable.

Athletics: Sea Dragons Roar with Pride

May 26 also marked a celebration of our biggest year in athletics yet. Over 150 athletes from Grades 7-12 represented the Dalian Sea Dragons in competitive sports. The event featured videos, speeches, and heartfelt appreciation for our athletes and coaches.

In the Sea Dragons Roar events across DAIS-E, DHBS, and Heritage Schools, we also celebrated our U12 athletes in basketball, soccer, and swimming, presenting them with Sea Dragons and Half-Blue certificates.
