The purpose of Kids Read is to foster a love of reading, to encourage young people to explore all genres of literature, and enjoy a wide range of books written by authors around the world. The spirit of Kids Read is to try and involve middle school students in this literary experience.
Every year the organizers of the competition create a list of books for the participants to read during the school year. It comprises all genres, from picture books to classic children’s stories and contemporary titles, all suitable for students aged 11-14 years. Although Kids Read is designed as a competitive activity, students enjoy the group and individual journey and the joy of reading no matter the scoring.
Congratulations to Semra who represented Dalian American International School during the Kids Read competition in Beijing this year and got second place there. Our “One Woman Army” as the other schools dubbed her made it through to the final round and won multiple tiebreakers.
