A Celebration of Stories: Book Week at DAIS

Book Week at Dalian American International School was a joyful celebration of imagination, creativity, and the love of reading across both elementary and secondary school communities.

In the elementary school, students dove headfirst into a whirlwind of literary fun. The week began with Character Dress-Up Day, where the halls were filled with favorite book characters brought to life. From classic heroes to fun and imaginative characters, students sparked imaginative conversations and expressed their love for stories in colorful, creative ways.

Next came "Once Upon a Pajama Day," where students cozied up in their favorite pajamas and enjoyed a magical day of storytelling. Midweek, excitement buzzed through the classrooms as students shared and recommended their favorite books with peers, turning each classroom into a hub of literary exchange.

On Thursday, the joy of reading was made even cozier with Teddy Bear Day. Students brought their favorite stuffed friends for a comforting and relaxed reading session. The week wrapped up on a high note with a poetry sharing session on Friday, where budding poets bravely stood up to recite their own verses, showcasing both confidence and creativity.

Pajama Day in secondary

Meanwhile, secondary students celebrated Book Week with themed Spirit Days, including their own pajama day favorite. They put their design skills to work in a bookmark contest and participated in a Book Swap to refresh their personal libraries.

The Book Fair, held in the Dragon’s Den from March 26 to 28, was a highlight for students of all ages, offering new literary treasures to discover and enjoy.

Women's History Month display

Beyond the week’s festivities, the Secondary Library also hosted a special display in honor of Women’s History Month. Featuring empowering stories of female pioneers who changed the world, the exhibit invited students to explore and reflect on the lasting impact of women in history.

From teddy bears and poems to book swaps and bookmark designs, Book Week at DAIS was a true celebration of stories — one that brought the entire school community together through the magic of reading.
