Books Are Magic! Reading Activities at DAIS

Book Week

At Dalian American International School, we prioritize and actively promote a culture of reading across all facets of our educational environment. From our meticulously curated library collections to engaging classroom activities and digital literacy initiatives, we strive to instill a lifelong love for reading in our students. Through literature, we not only expand minds but also foster critical thinking, empathy, and creativity. By integrating reading into every aspect of our curriculum and providing diverse opportunities for exploration and discussion, we empower our students to become confident, informed, and enthusiastic readers who are equipped to navigate the complexities of the world around them, culminating in our annual celebration of Book Week.

Book Week

This year’s Book Week theme was “Books Are Magic”. On March 25-27, students and teachers were encouraged to dress up for Fantasy Day (Monday), Twins Day (Tuesday) and Your Favorite Book Character Day (Wednesday). In addition, there was a Bookmark Contest, and we invited all the kids to design an original bookmark. The winners’ artworks will be printed out for the whole school’s use. The Book Fair on Wednesday to Friday, March 27-29, in ES Dragon’s Den, became a hot spot where students and their parents were able to restock their home libraries.
