Open Days
In May, during Korean Family Month, students from Dalian American International School had the chance to join the Multicultural Family Love Letter Contest. Korean Family Month, which celebrates days like Children’s Day, Parents’ Day, and Teacher’s Day, offered a special opportunity for our students to connect with Korean culture by writing heartfelt love letters to their family members.
Mr. Reed with his award
We’re excited to share that 21 DAIS students participated in the contest hosted by the Korean Association, and several were recognized for their amazing work. Chansong from Grade 11 took home the Gold Award and a 2000 RMB scholarship, her classmate Tiffany earned the Silver Award with a 1000 RMB scholarship, and Ein, Amy, Liuyan, and Lukas from DAIS-E won the Bronze Award, receiving backpacks. Mr. Jordan Reed, English Language Department Head, was named the Adult Winner, while Mr. Tairo Medeiros (elementary division teacher) and Jessica Lim (school counselor) were honored as Best Instructors. The rest of the participants were also celebrated and received souvenirs for their efforts.
Chansong reciting on stage
A special ceremony was held at Dalian Korean School on August 15, where winners were invited to collect their prizes, and Chansong had the chance to recite her winning letter on stage. It was a great experience for everyone involved, and we’re proud of our students for embracing this unique cultural opportunity!
