Summer Camps Wrap Up at DAIS

This summer, Dalian American International School welcomed students from across the region for two weeks of learning, exploration, and fun through the Sea Dragon Summer Camp and the DDC Gifted Camp. As the programs concluded, students left with new skills, meaningful friendships, and memories that will last well beyond the summer break.

Sea Dragon Summer Camp Brought Learning to Life

Throughout the two-week program, elementary and secondary students participated in a wide range of engaging activities designed to combine academic growth with hands-on experiences. Campers explored STEM, literacy, English language learning, project-based learning, swimming, sports, and skateboarding in a dynamic international learning environment.

Whether they were tackling creative challenges, developing communication skills, collaborating on projects, or staying active through sports and swimming, students were encouraged to learn through experience and discovery. Small class sizes and an immersive English-language environment helped campers build confidence while experiencing the student-centered approach that defines DAIS.

A unique feature of this summer's programs was the involvement of DAIS high school student volunteers, who served as camp counselors and mentors across both the Sea Dragon Summer Camp and the DDC Gifted Camp. Working alongside teachers, they supported activities, guided younger students, shared their academic experiences, and helped create a welcoming and inclusive environment. Their leadership, enthusiasm, and commitment to service enriched the camp experience while providing younger learners with positive role models.

Beyond the classroom, students formed new friendships, worked together as teams, and embraced every opportunity to try something new.

Sea Dragon Splash Added Summer Excitement

One of the highlights of the camp was the much-anticipated Sea Dragon Splash event.

Filled with laughter, energy, and plenty of water-filled fun, the event gave campers an opportunity to celebrate a successful summer together. Students enjoyed a variety of activities that encouraged teamwork, friendship, and school spirit while cooling off during the warm summer days.

From friendly competitions to moments of pure excitement, Sea Dragon Splash captured the joyful and supportive atmosphere that made this year's Sea Dragon Summer Camp such a memorable experience.

Future Innovators Explored Rocketry and Finance

This summer, DAIS partnered with DDC Academy to bring the DDC Gifted Camp to our campus. Through the specialized Rocketry and Finance & Investment programs, students engaged in rigorous, hands-on learning designed to challenge their thinking and deepen their understanding of real-world concepts.

Students in Rocketry applied principles of physics and engineering as they designed, built, tested, and refined model rockets. Through experimentation, teamwork, and problem-solving, they gained valuable experience in the engineering design process while exploring the science of flight.

Meanwhile, students in Finance & Investment examined economic principles, analyzed financial data, explored investment strategies, and participated in stock market simulations. The course encouraged critical thinking and data-driven decision-making while introducing students to real-world concepts in business and finance.

Both programs challenged students to think deeply, work collaboratively, and pursue their interests in an engaging academic environment alongside like-minded peers.

A Summer to Remember

Over two memorable weeks, students challenged themselves academically, explored new interests, developed friendships, and created lasting memories.

From STEM projects and literacy activities to swimming, skateboarding, Sea Dragon Splash, rocket launches, and investment simulations, this summer offered something for every learner.

These experiences reflected DAIS's commitment to helping students become confident, curious, and future-ready learners while ensuring they felt known, supported, and inspired every step of the way.

As summer draws to a close and students prepare to return to school next week, they leave with new knowledge, greater confidence, stronger connections, and experiences that will stay with them long after the camps have ended.
