This spring, our Sea Dragons demonstrated determination, teamwork, and school spirit both on and off the field. From exciting competitions to personal best performances, the season showcased the strength of our athletic community. We concluded with the Sea Dragon Athletic Awards, celebrating the dedication, resilience, and sportsmanship that define DAIS athletics.
May 22 and 23 saw DAIS/DHS have the privilege of hosting the first ever NESSIC U15 Basketball tournament. We welcomed schools from Beijing, Changzhou, Haikou, Nantong, Shanghai and Wuxi for this tournament. It was an exciting 2 days, with many close games, great sportsmanship and quality basketball.

Our Sea Dragons community was out in full force on Friday, creating an electric atmosphere in the South Gym.

We are proud to say that, after being placed in a very difficult half of the draw, our boys team finished in 5th place, while our girls again with a small roster, managed to achieve a 4th place finish.

It was a tournament where everybody showed the best of the Sea Dragons community, which is something we can be extremely proud of.
Congratulations to our U15 Basketball teams on a successful trip to Benxi to participate on the DISA U15 tournament. Our boys fielded an “A” team and a development team which gave all of our basketball players time on court and an experience that helps us create depth in our programs. Our development team worked very hard, which points to a bright longer-term future. Our boys “A” team remained undefeated throughout the tournament and defeated host school OCIS in the final to become DISA CHAMPIONS!

Our girls entered the tournament with a roster of 6 players, and gained great on court experience and game time. We are proud to say that they also remained undefeated throughout the competition, and defeated QSI Shenyang in the final to become DISA CHAMPIONS!

We also took 22 soccer players to Benxi to participate in the U12 Soccer tournament. Our B team showed significant growth during the competition and was a pleasure to lead, finishing in joint 5th position. Our A-team performed extremely well throughout the tournament, playing some good quality soccer throughout and scoring plenty of goals.

However, despite a very good performance in the final, our Sea Dragons were edged out by the CAIS Tigers in the final, settling for 2nd place.
Monday, May 25 saw our athletes and coaches celebrate the 2025/26 Athletics year. As always, we are incredibly proud of our athletes and would like to congratulate them all on a fantastic year of growth and development. Congratulations to all of our award winners!
This year’s award recipients included Davis Xiong and David Zheng, who received the Nathan Burton Award for Services to Sea Dragons Athletics. Lucas Tan and Megan Li were named U15 Male and Female Sea Dragons of the Year, while Louis Lu and Sunny Sun earned U19 Male and Female Sea Dragon of the Year honors. Anna Zhao was honored with the Megan Michalk Award, recognizing her excellence both on the field and in the classroom.

As we close the 2025/26 athletics year, we celebrate a season defined by growth, resilience, teamwork, and true Sea Dragon spirit.
