On Friday 12 and Saturday 13 April there was a huge buzz around the school as we invited schools from Jinshitan, Shenyang, Changchun and Xi'an for the Inaugural Sea Dragons Sports Spectacular. The 2-day event saw our Junior Varsity and Varsity soccer and badminton teams compete along with our Sea Dragon swimmers.
Changchun American International School (CAIS) and Oriental Cambridge International School (OCIS), Shenyang competed in a number of swimming events with our Sea Dragons. There were some outstanding performances in the pool, and our team members can be proud of their performances as we continue to work and develop our swimming program under the guidance of our coaching team of Ms. Sonya, Mr. Yonglin Liu, Ms. Fan and Ms. Jacques.
OCIS, CAIS and Maple Leaf International School (MLIS) joined our Sea Dragons Varsity and Junior Varsity teams in a round-robin badminton event with each team consisting of boys/girls singles, boys/girls doubles mixed doubles. There was some very tense competition across the 2 days, with our Varsity team taking home the champions trophy after a final round victory over OCIS. This was fantastic preparation for their ACAMIS competition that is coming up this week, while our JV team also got some excellent experience of tournament play under their belts.
CAIS, MLIS competed with our Varsity and Junior Varsity Sea Dragons in the boys football competition with a round-robin competition on day 1 with the round-robin rounded out on day 2. By the end of the first day our Varsity team qualified for the semi-finals and we joined by our JV team who showed tremendous potential for the years to come with some good performances. In the semi-finals the Varsity team defeated the JV and went up against an extremely talented CAIS team. At the end of a fiercely competitive game, CAIS ran out 4-2 winners, leaving our Varsity team to collect the runners-up awards.
In the girls section we were joined by CAIS and Xi'an Liangjiatan International School (XLIS) and played a double round-robin. At the end of the double round-robin XLIS took on our Sea Dragons in the final game. The girls team comfortably won the final to take the championship trophy after some excellent team performances.
