Open Days
Dalian American International School and Huamei School Varsity boys and girls basketball teams participated in the ACAMIS Basketball tournament on January 25-27, 2024 hosted by Xiamen International School.
It was a very successful first day of ACAMIS Basketball in Xiamen. Our male Sea Dragons rounded out Thursday with victories over AISHK (28-26), NAIS (28-22) and hosts XIS (36-33). This this result, 2 wins on Friday would secure top seed position for semi-finals on Saturday.
Our female Sea Dragons bounced back from a 7-25 reverse with ISNS to defeat XIS (23-15) and AISHK (20-12) on Thursday, January 25. They were set to play same opposition on Friday, and 2 wins would secure a spot in Saturday's final.
After a comprehensive victory over BSB, our boys team succumbed to defeat in their final pool game against ISNS. That game was set to repeat in the semi-finals on Saturday, where we all were hoping a more positive outcome.
Our lady Sea Dragons suffered defeats to XIS and ISNS but their convincing victory over AISHK saw them book a place in the championship game on Saturday.
Gold Division ACAMIS Basketball in Xiamen concluded on Saturday, January 27. Congratulations to Dalian American International School and Huamei School teams!
Our male Sea Dragons played a controlled game in the semi-finals to defeat ISNS 36-25.
We then moved on to finals and our lady Sea Dragons displayed real determination against ISNS and were always in the game before falling to a 20-17 defeat, therefore taking the silver medal.
Our boys then took on AISHK in what was an excellent championship game. Unfortunately, despite a valiant effort the Sea Dragons were edged out 35-27.
Congratulations to all-star athletes Vivi, Joni, Jasper and John and all team members who were outstanding role models for our school community!
Thank you also to coaches Bobby Flanagan, Brandon Iwanyshyn, Jacob Singleton and Judy Dlamini for coaching the teams and supporting our exceptional students both on and off the court.
Thank you to XIS for hosting the event and giving our students this opportunity to create great memories.
Go Sea Dragons!
