Christmas Season Is Here!

Santa Claus

December was busy at DAIS with many festive activities, challenges and performances.

Our students attended the Christmas tree lighting ceremonies at the Hard Rock Hotel and Hilton Hotel in Jinshitan. DAIS choir and chamber ensemble as well as children from the Bilingual divisions performed a few classical pieces in the hotel lobby and opened the winter season for our Music department.

Christmas bazaar

Our favorite part of the winter season at DAIS is the traditional Christmas Bazaar in the Campus Village. This year, we had even more fun than ever with the real Santa joining us as well as various stalls with Christmas gifts and decorations, hot chocolate, fruit tea, mulled wine, homemade sweets and sausages, beautiful music and festive atmosphere

Winter Dance

Winter Dance has proven to be a great success! Student Government’s major event brought close to 130 students to Hard Rock for dinner and partying. For 4 hours, the student body was attracted by charming atmosphere made with Christmas decorations, nice food, many places to take photos at such as sign board, and amazing 2.5 hours of dance floor party.

Many students have reflected positively on the event: “I can’t believe how much my expectations were smashed, this was so much better than I ever imagined it would be! They even gave us quality “reserved” cards and bouquets. I’m 100% coming for Prom!” - anonymous 11th grader.

December House Challenges

For the month of December, Student Government members prepared a series of festive challenges.

On Monday December 4, the student were asked to submit videos of themselves doing a water bottle flip. Congratulations to Biel who made the coolest video and won a free winter dance ticket and pizza party invitation.

Did you know that in China you may receive an apple as a Christmas gift? On Wednesday December 6, the DAIS student who found or built the biggest apple could also win a prize. Congratulations to Ashton from Grade 10! Your apple was a bit non-conventional but huge for sure!

On Friday December 8, secondary students were asked to bring NO BACKPACK. They could bring school supplies in the most creative way to win the last free winter dance ticket.

On December 13, the Student Government organized the friendly Ginger Bread Decorating - after school, the participants joined their friends to decorate ginger bread houses. So yummy and pretty!
