Secondary Winter Concert

Instrumental and choral concert

Even without the unique challenges presented to us this semester, a large-scale performance is always a tangled interwoven network of practice, adjustment, scheduling, communication, and collaboration. We spent six weeks of the first semester online. Our beginners had to start online, and they rose to the occasion, independently establishing necessary fundamental skills. Rehearsals were set and canceled. Our developing and advanced students eagerly volunteered their time to make it up. They were resilient and adaptable, finding solutions in the situation they were given. Our performance date changed twice! Our students maintained their enthusiasm and dedication to demonstrate their craft. Through all this, our students persevered and raised the bar for their performance.

Secondary school choir

On January 5th, Dalian American International School hosted a fabulous Secondary School Winter Concert featuring instrumental, choral and combined pieces. The audience was able to enjoy traditional carols, music from the greatest composers of all time, including Mozart, Vivaldi, Strauss, Tchaikovsky, and Rimsky-Korsakov, as well as contemporary music and a beautiful musical composition by Peter Zhang, a DAIS graduate.

"As their teacher, I could not be more proud of what we accomplished in our first official performance together. The support we received from each other as well as our school and parent community was uplifting and invaluable, and we are all looking forward to more to come."
