Winter Ventures: Instrumental Concert

In a dazzling showcase of musical talent, Dalian American International School (DAIS) hosted its annual Winter Concert on December 7, featuring performances by Secondary Band and Orchestras. The new gym was alive with the sound of strings, winds, and brass, as the young musicians took the stage to share their musical talent through their enchanting melodies. 

The night commenced with the captivating tunes of the Advanced String Orchestra, opening with the evocative piece “Inverno.” Then the students took the audience on a journey with the song “Deck the Hall of Mountain King” and "Jingle Bell" the festive classic with Beginning Strings, setting a high standard for the evening.

Following this, the Beginning Orchestra entered the spotlight with their charming performance of “Good King Wenceslas” and “Hiawatha.” The students demonstrated both progress and potential, earning cheers and applause from the audience.

A dedicated shift in ambiance occurred as the String Quartet graced the staged the stage, delivering breathtaking piece of “Snow is Falling.” The quartet’s symphony captured the essence of a winter wonderland, transporting the audience into a world of serene beauty.

The Beginning Band then took the stage with their vibrant pieces of “Up on the Housetop/Jolly Old St. Nick” and “Winter Winds.” Students showcased their developing skills, bringing a youthful energy that resonated throughout the new gym. 

The Intermediate Band presented captivating pieces - “Chant and Fire Ritual,” “Nightsong,” “Santa The Barbarian,” and “Santa the Barbarian: The Pirates of the North Pole.” The skillful execution of instruments and dynamic range displayed by the intermediate musicians lasting impression on the audience. 

Orchestra

The Advanced Band maintained the momentum with their performance of “Prairie Dances,” demonstrating a high level of musical proficiency and ensemble cohesion. 

The Saxophone Quartet took audiences to a musical journey through invigorating piece of “March: From the Nutcracker.”

Saxophones

The grand finale featured the Full Orchestra, leaving audience spanned emotions through pieces of “Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy,” “Waltz of the Flowers,” and “The Polar Express.” 

The Winter Ventures at DAIS once again proved that music has the power to unite, inspire, and spread joy during the festive season.
