Open Days
On September 6, Secondary Art students at Dalian American International School met with Joaquín de Jesús Moratillo - a talented illustrator, comics creator, and storyteller originally from Lima, Peru.
The son of our Visual Arts Department Head Mr. Martin, Joaquín graduated from Dalian American International School and has a bachelor’s degree in Sequential Art from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Grown up in both Peru and China, he has a fascination for the science fiction, magical realism, fantasy, and absurdism.
Our students were excited to talk to Joaquín and learn about various techniques, including woodcut printmaking, storyboarding and animatics. The artist's creative experience gave them tons of inspiration!
