Winners of the DAIS Spirit Week Contest Announced

Elementary students celebrate Christmas

Just before the winter break all Dalian American International School students and teachers got together to celebrate the holidays and show of the school spirit during DAIS Spirit Week.

We prepared a lot of activities for students and staff to participate in:

  • Writing Holiday Compliment Presents;
  • Sharing a Candy Cone;
  • Greeting Card Contest;
  • and more!

DAIS showed wonderful school and holiday spirit by dressing up during the week. It was a wonderful site to see our students coming together in their favorite holiday gear. Every day had its own theme: Merry Morning Monday (wear pajamas), Tacky Tuesday (wear as much visible red and green as possible), Winter Wednesday (dress in all white like a snowman), Movie Theme Thursday and Festive Friday.

Points were awarded to each person that participated in any event during the Spirit Week. All these points were calculated, and Mary Porter/Ben Beach advisory (Middle School) and Matt Krakowski advisory (High School) that showed the best participation and earned the maximum of points will be awarded a pizza party after we return from break.

One of the most important events during the Spirit Week was the Greeting Card Contest. We asked all Elementary and Secondary School students to show off their talent by drawing a beautiful card – holiday themed and encompassing top qualities of a good learner at the same time.

We got a lot of wonderful pictures and want to thank all young artists for their work. The set of judges spent hours choosing the best one. The overall winner that gets the grand prix is DAIS 9th grade student Molly Schroeder. She will receive a visit from Santa with the prize when we are back on campus.

Congratulations to all participants and winners!
