Winter Concert and Other Festive Activities at DAIS-E

Elementary school group photo

Before we entered the winter break, DAIS-E had a full week of activities and themes to kick off the Winter Holiday Season. From the Dress Up Days to the Holiday Reading Café to the premiere of the virtual winter concert, our Elementary School students had lots of fun at school.

DAIS music teachers Dr. G and Mr. Reyna made the decision to create a virtual music concert because of the epidemic. Over the 5 weeks of distance learning, our families helped a lot with creation of the music concert from home. On Thursday, December 16th and Friday, December 17, our students had an opportunity to watch their performance together in the Community Time room, and now we're ready to present these videos to all DAIS families.

Classroom Activities

During the whole week, students and teachers were able to dress up in celebration of the upcoming holidays:

  • Monday – Dress in Green and Red Day
  • Tuesday – Dress as a Holiday Character Day
  • Wednesday – Dress in an Ugly Sweater Day
  • Thursday – Dress as your favorite Frozen Character or Winter Wear Day
  • Friday – Pajama Day

On December 16th Elementary School Teachers brought the students to the library for a special event - holiday read aloud and hot chocolate. Thank you, Mrs. Clause, for another great chance to listen to some Christmas stories! Click here to see more pictures.

Then Santa Claus visited the DAIS campus on Friday, December 17th to say hello to our kids and take a few pictures with them.

Lower Elementary Winter Concert

DAIS and DHS lower elementary is proud to present their annual winter concert: "Winter Classical REMIX". This is a story of a village of musical elves who are putting on their annual winter concert "Winter Classical Music Festival", a performance filled with traditional classical music. A group of evil magicians, commanded by the evil dark wizard, attempt to ruin the concert by changing the traditional songs of the elves into new, modern songs. Instead of ruining the concert, the magicians accidentally manage to make the concert even better for the elves, allowing them to explore and experience different kinds of musical styles and genres.

Due to COVID-19, we were unable to have this performance in our traditional format on a stage in front of parents. Instead, this performance was pre-recorded during both in-person learning at school and online learning at home. Hundreds of videos were compiled together into one virtual performance video that showcases each individual student in a fun and musical way. This is a unique performance that our community will be able to remember and cherish for a lifetime.

Upper Elementary Winter Concert

Happy Holidays from DAIS to family and friends of our upper elementary students! Last year, we were lucky to be able to present our annual winter concert live on our campus, but this time, we send to you a virtual concert featuring songs, dances, and short scenes telling the story of the time the reindeer walked off the job. Every student has a part in telling the story. Nothing quite matches the magic and energy of a live musical performance, but we hope this special presentation brings you joy this holiday!
