Considering School in China? Discover 7-Day Boarding at DAIS for International Families

Relocating to a new country is an exciting opportunity, but it also comes with important decisions about your child's education. For families considering a move to China or sending their kid to study here, finding a school that offers strong academics, a supportive community, and a safe living environment can make all the difference.
At Dalian American International School (DAIS), our 7-day boarding program is designed to provide exactly that. For students in Grades 3–12, boarding combines academic support, structured routines, enrichment opportunities, and a caring residential community within one campus.
What Is 7-Day Boarding?
Unlike 5-day boarding, where students return home on weekends, 7-day boarding allows students to remain on campus throughout the week and weekends, returning home during scheduled school breaks and holidays.
For many international families, this provides continuity and stability. Students become fully immersed in school life while benefiting from the support systems available on campus every day.
A Caring and Structured Environment
DAIS boarding is designed to help students grow in independence while remaining fully supported. The boarding team provides 24/7 supervision, structured daily routines, and both emotional and medical support, helping students feel secure and understood while studying away from home.

The program encourages students to develop responsibility, self-discipline, confidence in decision-making, and strong study habits that will serve them well beyond school.
Academic Support Beyond the School Day
Boarding at DAIS includes a structured evening routine designed to help students develop strong study habits and academic independence.
Each evening, students participate in Guided Study Time (GST), a supervised academic support program that provides access to Math, English, and Science teachers, structured independent study, additional English development, and extended study opportunities when needed.
This is more than homework time. Guided Study Time provides monitored academic coaching, and boarders benefit from more structured academic hours than day students.

Boarding students also benefit from access to DAIS's rigorous academic pathways, including both Advanced Placement (AP) and Cambridge A Level programs. By combining challenging academics with a structured residential environment, students develop the time-management skills, self-discipline, and independence needed for success at university and beyond.
Life Beyond the Classroom
Life as a boarder extends far beyond academics.
Throughout the year, students participate in a variety of activities that encourage friendship, personal growth, and exploration. Boarding experiences may include movie nights, holiday celebrations, games, yoga, jiu-jitsu, handicrafts, and workouts in the gym, as well as weekend excursions such as hiking, horseback riding, rock climbing, golf, beach activities, cross-country adventures, and visits to museums and cultural attractions.
These experiences help students build confidence, discover new interests, and create lasting friendships while becoming part of a close-knit residential community.
Designed for Safety, Comfort, and Wellbeing
The DAIS dormitory is purpose-built to support student wellbeing and comfort.
Students live in four-student rooms within separate male and female residential areas. The facility includes silent study rooms on every floor, computer rooms, lounges, laundry facilities, and shared kitchens.

Student wellbeing remains a priority. Boarding students benefit from 24/7 supervision, emotional support, medical support, and a dedicated team of residential staff who help students navigate both academic and personal challenges.
To provide families with peace of mind, the boarding program operates within a secure campus environment featuring facial recognition access, 24-hour CCTV monitoring, gated campus security, and 24/7 supervision. Parents also remain in direct contact with the boarding team, ensuring a strong partnership between home and school.
A Home Away from Home
For international families considering education in China, choosing the right school is about more than academics. It's about finding a place where children can feel safe, supported, and connected while pursuing their educational goals.
At DAIS, students benefit from a unique combination of rigorous academics, dedicated boarding support, structured study programs, enriching activities, and a welcoming international community. Whether students come from another city, another province, or another country, DAIS's 7-day boarding program provides a true home away from home where students can learn, grow, and thrive.
