We are incredibly proud of our students for their exceptional performance at the World Scholars Cup Guangzhou this January. DAIS and DHS students achieved many impressive awards, bringing home 7 trophies, 38 gold medals, and 5 silver medals, and qualifying the senior team for the WSC Global Round in Shanghai this summer. Mr. Benson coached the students to take all of the top places in the senior division at the competition.

Here’s what our students had to say about their experience:
Ruby, DAIS G8: "Personally for my WSC experience, I enjoyed how we interacted with scholars worldwide, and the way we felt connected with each other. A memorable moment was when we stood up stage and felt how our hard work had eventually repaid. We learned how to work with our teammates efficiently, and expressing ourselves and being proud of who we are."

Zibo, DAIS G8: "You're probably wondering how to get a alpaca like the absolutely beloved authors of this article (the alpacas are called Jerry btw). I represent the affirmative side of this motion to urge you and your parents to sign yourself (and maybe your friends) for the World Scholars Cup; this is what my experience says.
Our first contention is that the World Scholars Cup gives you the opportunity to learn in a unique way: not only do you get an alpaca, but also the ability to think like never before. An argument is no longer a shouting battle but rather a match of chess. Secondly, you will be given the chance to travel around the world in name of education, seeing things like nothing before and learning the beauty of the world in a competitive way. Our third and final argument is that WSC gives you the valuable opportunity to learn more about yourself and the people around you. You will also discover yourself in another position in the world, one where you can explore rather than be a sedentary couch potato.
Thank you for your time and I urge for you, your parents and respectable adjudicators to sign up as a scholar for WSC."

Vicky, DAIS G8: "What I enjoyed most in this competition is that everyone is positive, even though some parts we didn’t do very well, everyone didn’t blame each other. Also, we did earn a lot of medals and trophies. It’s a memorable journey, a lot of interesting questions, we met the top students from each school. What we learned from this competition is that teamwork is important, and we should not blame others since everyone makes mistakes. My goal for next World Scholars Cup is to earn more medals and try to get a trophy."
Ariel, DHS G6: "This is the first time that I went to another place to debate with other students I didn't know. It's very cool and interesting, hope I can go to debate again next time! I just need to practice more."

We wish our students the best of luck at the World Scholars Cup Global Round in Shanghai this August!
