Game On! A Concert of Epic Soundtracks

Instrumental concert

Our final band and orchestra concert of the year took place on Tuesday, April 29 and brought together all of our beginning, intermediate, and advanced ensembles, along with the choir, for a spectacular evening of music inspired by video games. The concert featured music from 15 different games, some nostalgic and some contemporary, offering a dynamic and engaging program for the audience.

The evening opened with beautiful pre-show music by the advanced strings, setting the tone for a night of immersive video game soundtracks. It also marked the debut of our first-ever percussion ensemble, which impressed the audience with a tight and energetic performance of Jim Casella's "Technology."

Angela, student conductor

Among the most memorable pieces was "StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void," conducted by our senior Angela, which captured the cinematic intensity of the game's universe. "Fallen Down" from "Undertale," arranged by Gabriel Ozuna, offered a haunting and emotional contrast. The concert also featured "Monster Hunter," selected and sponsored by Grade 12 student Thomas, and "Bounty Hunter" from "Advent Rising," both delivering thrilling, game-inspired soundscapes.

The evening concluded with a powerful combined performance of "Sogno di Volare" by Christopher Tin, conducted by Joestar. Originally composed for Civilization VI, this soaring finale brought together the Intermediate Band, Advanced Full Orchestra, and Advanced Choir in a moving celebration of musical storytelling.

"Game On!" was a fitting send-off for our graduating seniors and a memorable close to the school year's musical journey.
