Diplomacy in Action: DAIS Students at CISSMUN XIV

CISSMUN delegates

The recent CISSMUN conference in Shanghai brought together over 800 students from across Asia and beyond - including a delegation from New Zealand! Representing DAIS/DHS with pride, our team of 11 students demonstrated outstanding diplomacy, critical thinking, and collaboration.

A special congratulations to our delegates who earned top recognition - one student received the prestigious "Best Delegate" award, while two others earned honorable mentions in their committees! Their hard work and dedication truly paid off.

Let's hear what DAIS delegates think about the CISSMUN XIV: Bridging the Divide conference:

Julius Chen, DAISMUNJulius C.: "Hi! My name is Julius and a junior in DAIS. This CISSMUN XIV trip, I believe, was a travel conference trip which every delegate from a delegation benefitted from one way or another. Whether that is recreation and sightseeing around the vibrant city Shanghai, or creating new connections and ceasing opportunities in the largest conference in China and East Asia. Well, for me, this travel conference was a success on both those aspects. One highlight for me this conference was the lobbying and merging process in the  conference venue, I had the privilege and opportunity to communicate with people from New York, Serbia (Abu Dhabi American Highschool), Hongkong, and Shanghai locals, who were part of my bloc (team). For those who seek to gain a different perspective of the world, enhance personal individual and MUN related skills, or step up as skillful leaders in future, CISSMUN and other travel conference options DAISMUN provides is highly recommended."

Rebecca Lyu, DAISMUNRebecca L.: "This is actually my second (and last) CISSMUN conference, and it’s been so good to see some friends I’ve made in previous travel conferences! This year’s committee has been especially difficult for me as it has plentiful strong delegates. Though on the other hand, it really enriched the debate experience. CISSMUN will surely be one of the most memorable memories among my senior MUN conferences, and I am most honored to have received a Best Delegate award."

Zoe Christoffersen, DAISMUNZoe C.: "CISSMUN XIV was an unforgettable experience. I enjoyed meeting new people from different countries and making new friends. I found engaging in intense debates particularly exciting. Throughout the conference, I learned critical thinking, which helped me improve my public speaking. One of the most memorable moments was passing the resolution I contributed to. Although I felt overwhelmed by the fast pace and the large crowd, I managed to overcome it. Overall, this trip was amazing, and I would love to do it again!"

The level of debate and engagement throughout the conference was inspiring, and the team’s performance showcased the strength of our MUN program.

Well done to all!
