Last week, our DAISMUN delegation spent 3 days participating in the annual Shanghai American International School Puxi Model United Nations Conference (SHAMUN XIII). Our 11 student participants were spread amongst 7 committees, and three of our delegates won individual awards. This is also a huge improvement as the DAISMUN delegation was given more advanced committee seats to challenge themselves and explore further into MUN.

Jingang Lin (outstanding delegate of UNODC as the delegate of India): "SHAMUN 2023 was my first ever MUN conference outside of DAIS and my first school trip outside of Dalian. Even though there were hard things that we had to overcome, we still had a lot of fun and got to know many people."
Rebecca Lyu (best attorney in ICC): "I was in the International Criminal Court (ICC), an experimental committee that takes on a slightly different procedure than traditional MUN. Despite certain unenjoyable moments during the trip, I met lots of wonderful people, had interesting conversations, and witnessed (hostile yet fun) debates. The defense team that I was on had won, unexpectedly, and we ‘freed’ a war criminal!"
