School Wide Learner Outcomes: Thriving in an AI-Driven World

In today’s AI-driven world, children need more than academic knowledge—they need core skills and competencies. This is where "School Wide Learner Outcomes" (SWLOs) come in. By fostering character, higher order thinking, intercultural competence, success skills, and a spirit of service, SWLOs prepare students to thrive with creativity and adaptability. As AI takes over routine tasks, human traits like innovation and character will remain invaluable.

Curriculum Design

Each course integrates the core elements of SWLOs, such as developing students' higher-order thinking abilities through classroom activities, like problem solving and critical thinking. In science classes, students are guided to conduct experimental investigations, while in mathematics, they solve real-world problems. These approaches reflect SWLOs' emphasis on academic skills and innovation.

Project-Based Learning

Our school has students from all over the world. With our diverse community, we use inquiry-based and project-based learning to encourage active exploration. Through cross-subject projects, students build communication skills, work with classmates from different cultures, learn to understand others and solve problems together.

Character Education

In daily teaching, teachers focus on cultivating students' character, such as emphasizing respect, integrity, and fairness during class discussions. In school activities, students are encouraged to demonstrate a spirit of service by contributing to the community through volunteer work. At the elementary age level, teachers are using Class Dojo to reinforce the Character vocabulary. This helps students learn these words and master soft skills.

Success Skills

Resilience, creativity, and curiosity are essential skills for success. Through inquiry-based, interdisciplinary project-based learning, students' curiosity and innovative thinking are stimulated, encouraging them to actively explore the unknown, ask questions, and find solutions. Throughout the learning process, teachers guide students to manage their time and tasks efficiently and encourage them to stay calm when facing failure and challenges.

Advisory

The Advisory Program in Secondary School focuses on the development of our School Wide Learner Outcomes (SWLOs) through service-based projects. Students learn the SWLOs and a skill to help them actualize it. After working on the SWLOs and skills, students create a service-based project that helps fulfill a need in our community. In 2024, students created experiential learning for elementary students and a virtual museum to preserve the stories and insights of our community's elders.

After School Activities & Leadership Development

SWLOs are not only reflected in the classroom but also in the after-school activities. By participating in clubs, sports teams, and community activities, students develop a spirit of service and leadership skills. Through these activities, they apply the various skills emphasized in SWLOs in real-life situations.>

SWLOs are the core of our curriculum and teaching activities. By closely integrating SWLOs with teaching, activities, and personal development goals, we help students achieve comprehensive growth academically, personally, and socially, laying a solid foundation for future learning and life.
