My Freedom Day: Table Talks

Table Talks

Dalian American International School/ Dalian Huamei School Table Talk Club was founded in 2022. Table Talk has been a popular activity for high school students worldwide. In many countries, high school students are interested in speaking out their voices and want to change the world. In the past years, our students did many things that showed their globalization, citizenship, and responsibility. Table Talk is a new platform that can provide new perspectives to explore this world and to improve language skills at the same time. This organization promotes valuable discussion about current events and global situations in the secondary school. Some of their recent topics discussed on campus were women rights and the influence of celebrities on society.

On March 16, it was an honor for DAIS and DHS juniors to participate in a Global Video Conference by CNN to discuss about #MyFreedomDay with high school students from other countries. "Through this conference, I got so much knowledge about human trafficking and human slavery. This video conference provides a bigger platform, a wider perspective, and more opportunities for me, and lets me become a real global citizen. This event contributes a lot to encourage me to make our world better and better, " said Bob Pang, one of the organizers of DAIS Table Talk Club.

Eleventh graders held their final Table Talks on March 27 during Advisory. It was a big celebration for the #MyFreedomDay facilitated by Mr. Waldvogel, Ms. Cui and Bob Pang, Grade 11 students. Through this event, our students got a basic understanding of human trafficking and human slavery and offered some ideas how to improve the situation in the world.

We're proud of the impact our students make!
