Book Week at Dalian American International School

From March 6 to March 10, we celebrated literacy and a love for reading with our annual DAIS/DHS Book Week. It has been a week of fun filled activities both in elementary and secondary divisions.

Blue Fountain, a book vender in Shanghai, ran the Book Fair and had a wide variety of picture books, chapter books, graphic novels, and activity kits available at decent prices. Our Dragon Den in the Elementary School building was busy the whole week with students, their families and teachers coming to enhance their home libraries.

One of our favorite happenings of Book Week at DAIS were dress-up days:

• Monday March 6 – Reading takes you everywhere: Dress as a tourist today
• Tuesday March 7 - I am crazy for reading: Crazy hair day
• Wednesday March 8 – Get cozy reading books: Dress in your pajamas
• Thursday March 9 - Celebrate reading with a buddy: Dress as twins with a friend
• Friday, March 10 - Show off the characters you like: Dress as your favorite book character

Other activities included buddy reading, book swap, bookmark contest, Fantasy Travel sticker bookmarks creation, and virtual field trips. We love seeing our kids getting creative and reading more!
