Elementary Sports Day: Wrapping Up the School Year

Elementary Sports Day: Wrapping Up the School Year - sports day

By tradition, every year before saying goodbye to school and breaking up for the summer holidays, DAIS Elementary School teachers organize a Sports Day for all students in grades 1 through 6. This year on June 10th we prepared cheerful Color Wars for our kids. It was an all-day event with various stations for students to engage in:

  • PE Pictionary: kids presented phrases related to sports and PE activities without saying a word.
  • Capture the Flag: students were trying to steal cones without being caught (“tagged”) by the opposite team.
  • Scavengers: bean bags were hidden under some cones in the field, and the goal was to find most of them working as a team.
  • Sink the Ship: the goal of the game was to knock down the other teams’ pins to “sink” their ship.
  • Cannon Ball: students were trying to get the ball to land in the opposite court by hitting, catching and throwing it over the net.
  • Ultimate Scooter Ball: we played a fun ball game sitting on scooters.
  • Relays: Frisbee Stack, Noodle Walk, 50 meter Sprint, and 100 meter Over Under.
  • Hula Hut: children demonstrated how to build a hula hut with 6 hula hoops and then carry them across the court.

There were three awards for the teams participating in the Color Wars. Sportsmanship Award was given to the team that showed best sportsmanship during games by being respectful, not boasting, saying good game or well done no matter the outcome of the game. We’re proud to announce that the blue team was named the best in this category.

Team Spirit Award was allotted to students and teachers who cheered and showed team spirit and pride throughout the games. Congratulation to the purple team!

And the black team was announced the Champions of the Sports Day for getting the most scores in all activities.

Well done everyone!
