Monster Mash

Halloween themed party

Every Halloween, Student Government tackles one of its most imposing projects – Monster Mash. As one of the standing traditions of DAIS, Monster Mash is one of the biggest fundraisers of the year, bringing in attendances of over 500. Accompanied by the Haunted House, Halloween dinner, costume contest, and trick-or-treat, the event has become known city-wide.

This year, Student Government hosted the much-anticipated event in the new A5 Gym, with the increased size allowing for more than 30 game booths. Nearly all of the games were hand-made by Student Government officers and members, and managed by over 100 student-volunteers. From puzzles to treasure hunting, and from arts and crafts to a full-sized human whack-a-mole, each game incorporated unique elements and ranged in difficulty for a variety of age groups. In addition, each game was equipped with an arsenal of prizes, and it was a common sight to see happy children roaming the event with neon masks, Halloween pumpkins, and other toys.

Children of all ages and all backgrounds are able to enjoy the wonders of Halloween, and Monster Mashes in years to come will continue to strive towards creating a memorable experience for all.
