We had a spook-tacular, boo-tiful, wooo-nderful Halloween celebration at Dalian American International School on Friday, October 29 and Saturday, October 30. A lot of events were going on these days: Elementary School Parade, classroom parties, Monster Mash, Haunted House, treat-or-treating, and creepy atmosphere everywhere. It was amazing to see our community come together and enjoy the feast!
To maximize the fun, all students and staff were encouraged to wear their favorite costumes on Friday. No matter if they were scary, fairy-tale or just funny, these outfits made us feel like the holiday is here. It was amazing to see kids dressed up in fancy costumes walking around the school campus and having fun. The highlight of the day was the Parade around the track for the Elementary School students, teachers and parents.
Younger kids created Halloween trick or treating paper bags and other handicrafts during classes. Everyone deserves a hand-made gift on this special day!

Every Halloween, Student Government tackles one of its most imposing projects – Monster Mash. A standing tradition of DAIS, Monster Mash is one of the biggest fundraisers of the year. Accompanied by the Haunted House and trick-or-treat, the event has become known city-wide, and many Dalian families come to visit us on this day.
This year we hosted the event in the DAIS North Gym, offering dozens of game booths. Nearly all of the games were hand-made by Student Government officers and members, and managed by over 100 student-volunteers. From puzzles to arts and crafts to treasure hunting, each game incorporated unique elements and ranged in difficulty for a variety of age groups. In addition, each game was equipped with an arsenal of prizes, and it was a common sight to see happy children roaming the event with neon masks, Halloween pumpkins, and other toys.
Right after the Monster Mash, when nightfall came, kids spread out around the campus to collect candies. Many residents of the Campus Village prepared something special for them – spooky decorations, gloomy lights, and lots of sweets!
A quiet place – the Morgue Students representing the DAIS Golden Pebble Beach Chapter of the National Honor Society prepared something spine-chilling for us this year. Shadowy motions in the dark, whispers, sudden shrieks, and an evil story behind all that – even adults were terrified and were happy to escape from this fearsome place.
Absolutely fantastic experience and a great way to wrap up the spookiest celebration of the year!
