Jasmine Zhao DAIS’22 Earns Place as Prestigious Schwarzman Scholar at Tsinghua University

Dalian American International School is proud to celebrate Jasmine Zhao, Class of 2022, on her admission to the world‑renowned Schwarzman Scholars program at Tsinghua University. She joins the program’s Eleventh Cohort, the Class of 2026–2027, which brings together 150 incoming scholars from 40 countries, selected from a record‑high 5800 applicants worldwide, placing her in one of the world’s most selective graduate fellowship programs.

After graduating from Dalian American International School, Jasmine pursued a double major in International Development Studies and Psychology at McGill University.

She is the founder of the Refugee Parliament Conference, a pioneering platform that brings refugee voices into policymaking through partnerships with international organizations and policy leaders such as UNHCR and the Montreal Refugee Center.

Jasmine has led NGOs supporting marginalized communities, launching educational programs and community drives that reached hundreds of underprivileged children across China. She has gained international professional experience through global corporations and conferences, including the World Peace Forum, where she coordinated over 100 international media outlets. 

Additionally, she is a national golf athlete for China and an accomplished musician who plays seven instruments.

The Schwarzman Scholars program is one of the world's most selective and influential graduate programs in global affairs. Scholars complete a fully funded one‑year Master's degree at Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University, studying China's role in global trends through a rigorous curriculum, leadership development, and immersive cultural experiences. Created to prepare the next generation of global leaders, the program now enters its Eleventh Cohort (Class of 2026–2027) with 150 Scholars from 40 countries, selected from just over 5,800 applicants. With this cohort, the global network surpasses 1,500 Scholars, reflecting sustained interest in studying in China and advancing international collaboration.
