Nurturing Young Minds: Elementary Boarding Program at DAIS

Dorm building

The boarding team at our school is committed to creating a safe, healthy environment where students can discover their potential. Through a well-designed schedule, boarding program, and extracurricular activities, the boarding team supports students in their school life and promotes responsibility, self-management, and leadership skills. The program provides a platform for elementary school students (starting from Grade 3) to build character.

Facility

The dorm is equipped with standard four-bedded rooms, public showers, and separate sanitary washrooms. Security facilities such as access control systems and face recognition systems at the entrance can effectively restrict unrelated personnel from entering the dormitory. At the same time, each floor is also equipped with a face recognition alarm system, which will trigger an alarm if a person not residing on the floor enters there. The boarding management team regularly attends various safety training, including child safety, first aid, fire safety, etc., to ensure the well-being of our students.

GST rules:

  • Students are not allowed to use cell phones unless the teacher has given permission for the use of cell phones to assist in completing assignments.
  • Students may not use social apps, including QQ and WeChat unless they have a valid reason and have received permission from the teacher. If a student is found to be in violation of this rule, his/her electronic device will be confiscated.
  • Students must follow the instructions of the boarding teacher.
  • Students should keep the volume down when talking.
  • Students must have permission from the teacher to leave the classroom or do anything that would interrupt learning.

Also, every day, teachers will conduct dormitory hygiene inspections and instruct students to organize their personal belongings and develop good living habits as needed.

Dorm After School Activities

To enrich the after-school life of the dormitory students, in addition to the After School Activities organized by the school, the dormitory also arranges After School Activities such as English, art, handicrafts, jiu-jitsu, yoga, sports activities, logic classes, and other special courses. The boarding team also organizes singing contests, badminton tournaments, New Year celebrations and other activities to make the boarding life more interesting.

The Boarding Team is fully equipped with qualified nurses. Students who feel unwell during their stay in dorm may seek help from the nurses by informing their teachers.

First aid training

All medication (both prescription and over the counter) must be clearly labeled with the student's name and placed in the dorm Infirmary for safekeeping with a signed medication agreement. Medication may only be taken by the student under the nurse's supervision.

A complete medical history of the student shall be reported and submitted to the boarding office when they move in. The nurse also trains the dormitory teachers in first aid on a regular basis.
