Field Day for Elementary and Secondary Students

Sports day in elementary school

On June 1, DAIS and DHS Elementary had an exciting day of activities and athletics during the annual Field Day. Kids played many exciting games:

  • Puzzle Relay - Puzzle pieces are retrieved from the other side of the room. Once all pieces are collected, the team’s puzzle solvers must put together the puzzle.
  • Capture the Flag - Players run around the field. If a player is tagged (flag belts), they go to the opposing team’s jail and stay there. Stolen flag belts should be placed in the hula hoops from the team. The game ends and resets only if one team possesses all the flag belts from other team.

  • Sink the Ship - Color Balls are placed in the center circle. The players on the scooter cars collect the balls and pass them to their teammates on the ship (mat). Goal of the game is to knock down the other team’s pins to “sink” their ship.
  • Card Sharks - Playing cards are placed face down on the field. The goal is to find the matching pair and return into base.
  • Cannon Ball - Each team defends their territory. The goal is to get the ball to land in the opposite team’s court. Players can hit, catch, and throw the ball to pass it back and forth over the net.
  • Relays - 50-meter Sprint, 100 meters Over Under, Frisbee Stack, Noodle Walk.
  • Sponge Relay & Water Balloon Toss - Students get a wet sponge and pass it down to fill up a bucket. For the Water Balloon Toss, they need to pass the water balloon to their partner.
  • Ultimate Scooter Ball (on the picture below)

Through an event like Field Day, we want our students to get the chance to show leadership, teamwork and communication, as they interact with students from other divisions and face challenges together as one.

On the same day, students and teachers went on a secondary field trip to the Discoveryland Theme Park to celebrate the end of the school year. Fun was had by all!

We want our students to learn how to cooperate, to foster their friendships, and to feel the community spirit. One way we do this is through good traditions like the Field Day.
