Our Sea Dragon scholars are finally back to studies after the summer vacation. Dalian American International School teachers and staff spent the first two weeks of August preparing for their return.
From August 1, all new and returning DAIS teachers participated in the faculty orientation. The training sessions covered a wide range of topics, including the school's mission and vision, teaching goals for the upcoming year, well-being and safeguarding, curriculum content planning, department responsibilities, cooperative strategies, and many more. At the same time, the faculty took part in team building activities.
On August 12th, our school started a training for school bus drivers and teachers. They participated in a joint training covering the code of conduct, child protection policies and other procedures for a smooth opening of school.
During the whole day of Monday, August 15, our campus was busy and crowded as all DAIS families participated in the Back-to-School event. Our principals introduced our 2022-2023 teaching staff, followed by a brief presentation of school programs and expectations. After that, students and their families moved to classrooms to meet the teachers and discuss the courses.
Counselors met with all the new students and parents on Back to School event, they explained how to read the schedule, how to reach out to your counselor, and how counselors could support you at school.
On August 16, all DAIS Elementary and Secondary students started the new academic year on campus. Thank you to teachers and staff for making our new families feel at home and for welcoming back our returning families with such warmth. It was a great way to kick off the 2022-2023 school year!
