Future 21st Century Leaders

Future leaders

During DAIS Secondary School Summer Enrichment experience, middle school students in grades 7 & 8 were given the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience regarding what it entails to be Future Focused 21st Century Leaders. Under the guidance of their facilitator, LiTonya Roy, they focused on learning that becoming a leader (at any age) requires commitment, balance, and understanding.

Emphasis this summer was placed upon the following:

  1. Understanding their own personal values & goals,
  2. How to think strategically,
  3. Learning to listen,
  4. Interpersonal and Communication Skills,
  5. School work/life balance as young leaders,
  6. How to work effectively as a team,
  7. How to manage time,
  8. Setting goals,
  9. How to facilitate meetings, and
  10. How to Create Effective Presentations.

The culminating activity for this summer course included a personal visit from Mr. Robert Ploeger, General Manager for Dalian KWD Innovative Automotive Auto Factory (DKIA). Mr. Ploeger shared his insight about what it entails to be future focused 21st Century Leaders, and he also talked with the future leaders about the Dalian DKIA Factory.

Students with certificates

At DAIS, every student has the potential to be a leader, and as teachers and leaders ourselves we must foster and nurture an environment for students to thrive and give it their best. This course allowed for that opportunity for our grade 7 & 8 students, while, in turn, growing them into responsible young adults and future 21st Century Leaders.
