Kids Read 2021 – Both DAIS Teams Came in Top Places

Kids Read is a competition that DAIS middle schoolers participate in along with several other schools in China.

SIXTY BOOKS!!

That’s how many books each of the two DAIS Kids Read teams read this year. Kids Read is a competition that DAIS middle schoolers participate in along with several other schools in China. Teams of four students divide up and read fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, biographies, and short stories from a variety of authors and backgrounds.

Due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, this year’s competition was once again held online with ten teams competing from five schools. All of the teams worked hard and represented their schools well.

Ms. Perez and Ms. Stark are very proud of the hard work our students put in, which paid off in a BIG way with our two DAIS teams taking first AND second place!

First place went to Team 2: Aman Tesfu (gr. 7), Ellen Chiew (6), Reann Lim (6), and Kenneth Zhang (6).

Second place went to Team 1: Shirah Gifford (8), Lilian Bian (6), Bryce Noh (6), and Jesper Bertelsen (6) with Liana Gifford (6) subbing in as an alternate.

Well done, Sea Dragons!
