This winter, DAIS students have received a series of prestigious international awards.
The Yau Shing Tung Secondary School Science Award is a research-based competition emphasizing innovation, originality, creativity, and persistence in research activities. It encourages students and teachers to formulate issues with quantitative precision and scientific rationales, with a view to nurturing students’ passion for scientific discovery, patience in the investigation, and rigor in deliberation. This is one the most prestigious science award for high schoolers in China. We are proud to announce that Lewis Lu, our Grade 11 student, advanced to the finals and was awarded Honorable Mention for the Chemistry Award. Congratulations on this prestigious honor!
In spite of the fact that more than 4.5 million high school juniors took the PSAT in the past year, only 7,500 are chosen as finalists for the National Merit Scholarship, according to the College Board. Students who perform well on the PSAT are eligible for the National Merit Program. High scorers may be named “commended students,” “semifinalists,” or “finalists” by the NMSC after receiving their PSAT results. Students who score in the top 3-4% are named Commended Scholars. Dalian American International School is proud to announce the Brian Kim, a DAIS senior, has been recognized as a “2022 Commended Student” by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. This is an impressive achievement and we are very proud of your accomplishments.
AMC is organized by the American Mathematical Association (MAA), which is one of the most influential math tests for young people in the world, with 300,000 students participating in more than 6,000 schools around the world every year.
