The Juilliard School

Performing arts are so much more than what is seen on stage. They encourage self-expression and self-awareness, as well the development of empathy, confidence and cultural exploration. Our collaboration with Juilliard, the world-renowned performing arts school, combined with our outstanding dance, drama, and music programmes, inspires our students’ creativity, team-work and resilience.

The Juilliard School is recognised around the world as a leader in the performing arts; our exclusive collaboration with them harnesses their expertise and experience to create an arts programme that both inspires our students and sparks their passion to pursue their talents and interests.

MIT

Our global programme inspires students to look beyond individual subjects and harness the benefits of an interdisciplinary, practical, hands-on approach to learning guided by the world’s leading STEAM institution. Our students are encouraged to solve problems creatively, to embrace curiosity and to learn from world-leading experts at MIT. It also gives our teachers the chance to learn and receive professional development from inspiring figures in the world of STEAM and pass on their passion for learning to our students.

UNICEF

We want to give both our students and our teachers the chance to make a meaningful, positive impact on the community around them. This includes embedding the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) in all aspects of teaching and learning across our schools, using materials developed by UNICEF.

Swimming

All students are given every opportunity to excel. Not only does it provide a healthy lifestyle choice for students but also a skill that could help save or assist others.

Basketball

Basketball ensures year-round team sports, taking place in one of the two indoor gymnasiums located on campus. The professional equipment allows our students to play national level games.

Volleyball

This fast-paced physical exercise teaches valuable lessons in awareness of others and students’ surroundings in order to achieve the best results.

Soccer

Our soccer teams practice their skills by competing against other teams of similar age and ability.

Badminton

While running, lunging, and diving for the birdie, students hardly notice that they are getting a powerful cardio workout which is beneficial for their bodies, minds and general health.

Table Tennis

We stimulate students' potential through fitness and physical coordination training. Through a "positive discipline" teaching method, students can develop self-discipline, responsibility, cooperation, and the ability to solve problems by themselves.

Golf

To gain an understanding of the game, we do warm up exercises, followed by teaching basic techniques for beginners. We’ll also introduce your child to golf etiquette, competition rules and sporting behavior.

Creative Painting

The course covers clay painting (plane, solid), ceramic craft (Clay Sculpture), creative painting (drawing with color pens, colored pencils, and oil pastels), and traditional Chinese painting.

Arts & Crafts

Students work with a variety of materials to explore colors, shapes and textures while building their hand eye coordination. Instruction focuses on encouraging students to play and experiment with art in a fun and relaxed setting.

Photography

Students will become familiar with digital photographic equipment (including digital cameras and phones), materials, methods and processes including editing functions.

Coding

Students can use Scratch to code fun projects and build their own objects. This graphical programming language improves your child’s logical thinking skills, independent mindset, and even teaches them some basics of AI.

Design

Students learn to design and make products that solve genuine, relevant problems within different contexts whilst considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values.

Orchestra

Orchestra allows students to practice and develop self-discipline, teamwork, goal setting, and fine motor skills all within a creative safe space. The culminating result of all of this hard work is an awe-inspiring evening of entertainment.

Choir

The DAIS choir regularly entertains the community with impressive, large-scale performances. By participating in choir, students are given the opportunity to build thinking skills such as memory, listening and concentration while developing on stage and behind the scenes expertise.

Chaoyang Service Trip

DAIS students spent quality time with the local children, getting to know them through play, conversation, and teaching them English, Chinese, art, and music. At the end of the trip, not only did the volunteers feel a sense of accomplishment as they had made a difference in the lives of the children they met, but they also grew as individuals.

Anbo Ski Trip

The annual Anbo Mountain ski trip is a yearly highlight for our students and staff as they engage in outdoor sporting activities together and enjoy the picturesque landscape on a beautiful winter day in the Dalian area.

Model United Nations Trips

By participating in MUN conferences students work on finding solutions to some of the current problems the world is facing, participate in debates, build leadership skills, and utilize critical thinking skills to resolve ongoing international issues. It is events like this that help students gain social and emotional experiences outside of the normal hours of school. The Model United Nations program at DAIS helps to create well-rounded students and responsible global citizens.

Local Museum Field Trips

The main goal of this trip is to learn about the human and natural resources of Liaoning province, to see real world examples of human impact on the environment, and to deepen students’ understanding about how public spaces, like parks, help to shape communities.
