DAIS Students Earn International Recognition in Academic, Mathematics, and Robotics Competitions

This year, DAIS students earned impressive results in mathematics, academic, and robotics competitions on the international stage. From the Berkeley (mini) Math Tournament (BmMT) and the World Scholar's Cup Global Round to the VEX IQ Robotics Competition, our students demonstrated curiosity, determination, and a willingness to embrace new challenges.

Outstanding Results at the Berkeley Math Tournament

DAIS students achieved remarkable success at the 2026 BmMT Berkeley (mini) Math Tournament, a highly respected competition that brings together talented young mathematicians from around the world to tackle complex challenges both individually and as teams.

Their accomplishments included:

• 1 Individual Silver Medal
• 6 Honorable Mentions
• 10 Puzzle Round Silver Awards
• 5 Team Round Gold Awards
• 5 Relay Round Silver Awards
• 5 Overall Bronze Awards

Congratulations to Vicky, Teddy, Leo, Jeremy, and Oliver, who earned Honorable Mentions in the Individual and Team Rounds.

These results highlight our students' ability to tackle complex challenges, think strategically under pressure, and perform at a high level against strong international competition.

We also extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Nuevas for mentoring our students and helping them develop the mindset and skills that contributed to these outstanding achievements.

Sea Dragons Qualify for Yale at the World Scholar's Cup

DAIS students also represented the school at the World Scholar's Cup Global Round in Shanghai, competing alongside more than 2,000 scholars, 850 teams, and participants from 30 countries.

While most students were spending the final days of summer break relaxing, Sea Dragons Team 629, Ruby, Marquis, and Zibo were competing on the global stage and earning an impressive collection of Gold and Silver medals. Most importantly, their performance secured qualification for the prestigious Tournament of Champions at Yale University.

• Marquis Zhao: 2 Gold, 5 Silver
• Zibo: 1 Gold, 5 Silver

Throughout the Global Round, Ruby, Marquis, and Zibo took on a wide range of academic challenges while competing against talented students from around the world. They represented DAIS with determination, supported one another throughout the event, and made the most of every opportunity to learn. Their qualification for the Tournament of Champions reflects months of preparation and a genuine commitment to excellence.

VEX IQ Robotics Competition

During the final weekend of August, the DAIS Middle School Robotics Club traveled to Beijing to participate in the VEX IQ 10-Hour Build. The event marked an important milestone for our robotics program and provided students with valuable experience working under the pressure of a fast-paced engineering challenge.

Competing against other teams, our students demonstrated creativity, perseverance, and strong collaboration throughout the competition. Their hard work earned them 3rd place overall, an impressive accomplishment and an encouraging step forward as the team continues to grow and develop.

Celebrating Excellence Beyond the Classroom

Together, these accomplishments highlight the breadth of opportunities available to DAIS students and the impact of a learning environment that encourages students to pursue excellence beyond the classroom. Whether tackling complex mathematics or competing in international academic events, our students continue to seek challenges that help them grow. These experiences encourage students to stretch beyond their comfort zones and develop skills they will carry with them long after graduation.
