His passion for learning begins with his own and extends to his students, their parents, and the other educators around him.
Born and (mostly) raised in Austin, Texas, Ben attended the University of Texas at Austin where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and his teaching certificate through the UTeach Liberal Arts program. Since 2009, he has taught Social Studies and English Language Arts in both elementary and middle school, English in high school, and several college courses as well. In the process he also earned a Master of Arts in English through the University of Texas at Tyler.
While most of Ben’s teaching experience occurred in Austin, a year teaching in Madrid, Spain was the spark that has driven him to explore the world and its myriad cultures through his chosen profession. His passion for learning begins with his own and extends to his students, their parents, and the other educators around him. When he is not teaching, Ben can usually be found reading, writing, or spending active time with his wife, Angela, and their two sons, Gibson and Emerson.
