After School Activities

The After School Activities program at Dalian American International School is designed to allow students the freedom to discover and develop lifelong passions, maintain a healthy body and mind, extend and apply their classroom knowledge, and provide a link to give back to the community. The after-school activities program is aligned with the ideals of Dalian American International School. Our students develop intellect, character, and health in a safe and welcoming environment.

DAIS After-school activities are divided into three different sessions; Fall, Winter, and Spring. Activities occur on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:55 to 4:45 p.m. Our paid ASAs are offered all week long and vary in length. Most activities will occur from 3:55 to 4:45. For those living off campus, transportation is provided for a fee. For more information on busing, please click here.

Sea Dragon Choir

Students sing, move, and play instruments further developing their musical skills in this fun and exciting ASA.


Students can create a game or an application, design and print their own 3D products. In the Elementary school, they build a project to learn the basics of woodworking.


Kids Read

Students are exposed to quality literature representing a variety of literary styles and viewpoints, and prepare to compete in the annual Kids Read tournament.


Do you love drawing? Chinese calligraphy is just like drawing, and students can learn Chinese characters in a fun way.

Math and Science

Math and Rubik Cube Club

The Rubik's Cube was first created in 1974. The 3x3x3 cube has 43, 252, 003, 274, 489, 856, 000 combinations, or 43 quintillion, possible patterns. Come learn how to solve this challenging puzzle on your way to becoming a speedcuber!


The body is made of 11 organ systems that work together in amazing ways to keep the human body alive and active. In this course you will learn about the systems through hands-on activities and dissections of different specimens.


Intramural Sports

Secondary students get the opportunity to coach out younger students in a competitive league. It is an excellent opportunity to work on leadership skills while building schoolwide relationships and continuing to enhance our positive culture on campus.

College Essay

Students explore the personal narrative essay through reflection guided by the common application prompts and exemplar essays to serve as mentor texts. They draft, revise, edit, and publish a college ready common application essay.

Together is Better


Mindfulness is about learning to train your attention to the present moment without dwelling on what has happened in the past or worrying about the future. Mindfulness provides many physical and psychological benefits.

Aunty Wang

We make a difference to the community by creating a relationship with the Elderly home and/or the orphanage here in Jinshitan. Students may read a book, make blankets for the winter, do a food drive and participate in other activities .

Student-led Activities

Debate Club

Debate enhances invaluable skills such as public speaking, critical thinking, and confidence that are vital to success in the future.

No Plastic Bag

Our main goal is to try to eliminate the use of plastic in our school community and to provide a healthy and environmentally friendly atmosphere.

Paid Activities

Creative Painting

The course covers clay painting (plane, solid), ceramic craft (clay sculpture), creative painting (drawing with color pens, colored pencils, and oil pastels), and traditional Chinese painting.

Swim Training

Swim training for is students interested in competitive swimming. The goal of this training is to increase a swimmer’s stamina and improve strokes.
