Admissions Procedure

Should you wish to apply to Dalian American International School, please follow these guidelines.

Step 1

Make an Application

A complete application consists of the following:

Submit Permission to Release School Records 

(must be given to student’s current school)

Official School Records (in English) for past three years, including standardized test scores

School Recommendation from previous school

Completed Student Questionnaire

Copy of applicant’s Birth Certificate and Passport

For citizens of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau, a copy of a valid Temporary Residence Permit must also be included (all grades)

Copy of Valid Chinese Residence Permit 

(including appropriate visa for meeting DAIS requirements)

One 2-inch photo, attached to first page of application forms

All grades, if applicable

Payment of non-refundable application fee.

Step 2

Application is Reviewed

The Admissions Office will review the application and contact you. As each applicant’s situation is different, the Admission’s Office may need additional documentation to process the application.

Step 3

Admissions Testing

In some cases, additional admissions testing may be necessary to make admissions and placement decisions. The Admissions Review Team will ensure DAIS can support individual student learning needs. The Admissions Office will be in contact if additional testing is necessary.

Step 4

Notification

Once all application documentation is complete, the Admissions Review Team will review the student file. Families should be notified of acceptance within a week of receiving a completed application.

The Start of School Year

The start date for all DAIS divisions has been moved from August 5th to September 1st. We continue to monitor the recent Covid-19 outbreak in the Dalian area and will report to the community any impact that this outbreak may have on the start of the school year.
