Ms. Niesner is passionate about pedagogy focused on a holistic educational experience.
Holli Niesner received her B.A. in both Mathematics and Music (specialization Vocal Performance) from Texas Lutheran University, and her MEd. in Curriculum and Instruction, K-14 Mathematics from Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. She has taught high school mathematics since 2003 across all subject levels. She taught for two years in San Antonio, Texas before moving to Alaska to teach for three years. Her first overseas teaching position was in Cairo, Egypt in 2009. She has since taught in Kathmandu, Nepal, and Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Ms. Niesner is passionate about pedagogy focused on a holistic educational experience involving character education, service learning, and research-driven, inquiry-based, student-centered instruction that allows students to follow their passions and explore the interconnectedness of mathematics as it applies to the real world. Holli is happy to continue her work at DAIS as a teacher of Advanced Algebra and AP Statistics.
