On Tuesday, September 1st DAIS faculty and staff welcomed our students back to school after the summer break. It has been wonderful seeing new and returning faces, although it happened almost a month later than expected as we had to move the fall start date for all divisions from August 5 to September 1. We began the year similar to how we ended last school year, with strict COVID-19 procedures, but when we survey what is going on in schools around the world, we feel privileged to have students in our classrooms and buildings.
We are happy to announce that over 85% of DAIS overseas staff (and about 97% of classroom teachers) were able to arrive in China before the start of the school year. We have a few new overseas hires this year, and most of them are ready to enter the school within the next couple of weeks upon completing their mandatory quarantine. Until all our teachers are onsite and in the classroom, we have put into place a contingency plan that ensures that there is a qualified teacher partnered with the offsite teacher in every classroom.
We are confident that this year will be phenomenal for the whole DAIS community, with the many enjoyable learning opportunities that it will bring.
