|Daniel Gould – Director of College Counseling
Dan Gould comes to DAIS with over 10 years of experience working in the field of college admissions and academic advising. Holding Master's Degrees in Humanities and Higher Education Administration; prior to coming to DAIS Dan had worked in China as an ESL Lecturer for Hebei Normal University and as Director of College Counseling for Zhejiang Fuyang High School. Currently, Dan is pursuing his Doctorate in Education through the University of Nottingham while joining the DAIS team. Dan is amazed to work with DAIS students! Each student's future is limitless, Dan enjoys exploring all the difference majors and universities available while walking alongside each student during the college admissions process. While most of Dan's time will be devoted to working with Juniors and Seniors as DAIS learn about higher education and explore college choices and options, his door is always open to every student or parent for help.
|Emily Foster – College Counselor
Emily Foster is a proud North Carolina native! She holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication, Journalism from Appalachian State University and a Master of Science in School Counseling from Mercer University. Before joining the DAIS family, Emily was a professional school counselor at a large public high school in Atlanta, GA. She holds membership in the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and the International Association of College Admission Counseling (IACAC). Emily’s favorite part about being a counselor is helping high school students prepare for the exciting transition to postsecondary life! She enjoys visiting college campuses and learning about interesting options for her students. DAIS is Emily’s first experience at an international school and traveling to China was her first overseas trip! She looks forward to growing in her role as an international school college counselor and collaborating with DAIS students and families.
|Sharon McCoy – College Counselor
Sharon McCoy came to DAIS in 2016 from Portland, Oregon with her husband, Scott McCoy, who is a middle school language arts and social studies teacher. She comes from a long career in the biological sciences and worked in both academia and the biotechnology industry. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Master of Science in physiology. In her first year at DAIS she worked as a substitute teacher and math and science tutor. She also began a graduate program through UCLA to obtain her certification in college admissions counseling. During her second year she completed the program, which included an internship with the counseling department here at DAIS. She is very excited to be a full-time counselor at DAIS and the Huamei Academy this year! Sharon and Scott have three children in the US (all of whom have attended college!). Sharon loves music and has been a drummer and keyboard player in Rock Me AmaDAIS, the DAIS teacher band, for the past two years.
